Priority A: Enhanced food security, nutrition and food safety

 

1.     FAO support to the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) in Myanmar

Objective: Create an enabling environment that reduces the incidence of poverty, food  insecurity and malnutrition among the rural poor of the project area.

2.     Support Double Monsoon Rice Cropping System for increased rice production

Objective: To introduce double monsoon rice cropping system to increase rice production for social and economic wellbeing as well as considering it as a copying mechanism for any possible disaster in future.

3.     Strengthening Agricultural Value Chain through Geospatial Value Chain Analysis

Objective: To strengthen technical capacities of national stakeholders with improve value chain analysis and interventions.

4.     Building capacity on promoting economically and environmentally efficient rice production through direct-seeded rice

Objective: To strengthen capacity on the promotion of direct-seeded rice production system.

Priority B: Strengthened governance and sustainable management of land, forests, water resources and ecosystems

1.     Improving Statistics and reporting capacities of the forestry sector

Objective: To enhance the capacities in the Forest Department to restructure and adapt the national forest statistics system with the ability to -

(i) provide more comprehensive, accessible as well as relevant information and data and

(ii) to present them in formats which allow them to be used more readily in decision-making processes of the land use and forest sector at national and subnational levels.

2.     Support to the Development of the Integrated National Strategic Action Plan on Fire Management

Objective: To develop the Integrated National Strategy and Action Plan on Fire Management in Myanmar with the support to the improvement of national policy, strategy and regulations for transboundary haze pollution action plan.

3.     Strengthening the Institutional Capacity on Forest Health

Objective: To improve pests and diseases management systems that sustain healthy forests and plantations, contributing to the environment, economic and social goals.

4.     Building community resilience through resilient watershed management

Objective: To fill the data and information gaps related to resilient watershed management by conducting a national level resilient watershed analysis adopting a landscape approach aimed to identify priority risk reduction area through geospatial assessment.

5.     UN-REDD Global Technical Assistance: Addressing Forest Crime through Forest Governance in the Lower Mekong Region

Objective: To increase national commitment to legal and sustainable trade and investment in wood products across the Lower Mekong Region and China.

6.     UN-REDD Global Technical Assistance: Integrating mangroves sustainable management, restoration and conservation into REDD+ Implementation in Myanmar

Objective: The overall goal - Sustainable management, restoration and conservation of mangroves ecosystems - to contribute to the achievement of the overall goals of the National REDD+ Strategy, in terms of emissions reductions and enhanced livelihoods of local communities.

Priority C: Enhanced resilience of local communities and farming households to natural and humanitarian disasters, climate change and transboundary and emerging infectious disease risks

1.     Immediate technical assistance for animal health systems to address emerging and priority zoonotic diseases and health threats in Myanmar

Objective: To strengthen animal health systems to reduce the risks and impacts of emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and bio-threats through an inclusive One Health approach.

2.     Support for maintaining production capability of horticultural crops for vulnerable small farmers

Objective: The project objective is to urgently rebuild, protect and improve the agriculture livelihoods of the most vulnerable small-scale farmers including landless seasonal workers, newly displaced and host community households affected by the political instability and spread /restriction of COVID-19 that have resulted in a substantial cost increase of agricultural inputs, by providing time-critical and season-sensitive emergency assistance in the form of quality agriculture inputs.

3.     Support for FMD control for small-scale farmers through emergency feed and healthcare provision

Objective: The project objective is to safeguard the livelihoods of livestock-owning, vulnerable households. The project will make basic animal health care available and improve animal nutrition

4.     Emergency Support to Safeguard Food Security and Livelihoods for Most Vulnerable Farming Households in Kayin and Shan (South) States

Objective: To safeguard and improve food security and nutrition of the most vulnerable conflict and COVID-19 affected small-scale farmers, and host communities and prevent disruption of the main farming activities for the 2022-2023 agriculture season by providing by providing time-critical and season-sensitive emergency assistance in the form of quality agriculture inputs, related technical training and awareness building on COVID-19 safety measures.

5.     Live-saving emergency livelihood support to vulnerable food insecure households in selected conflict-affected states of Myanmar

Objective: Urgently rebuild, protect and improve the agriculture livelihoods of the most vulnerable small-scale farmers, host community and returnees households from the adverse impacts of the ongoing conflict, and other recent shocks and worsening of existing food crisis in Myanmar by providing time-critical and season-sensitive emergency assistance in the form of quality agriculture inputs, unconditional cash and related short technical training and awareness building on COVID-19 safety measures.

6.     Boosting the resilience of the most vulnerable smallholders for a transformative COVID-19 recovery

Objective: Resilience of the most vulnerable smallholders is enhanced, as part of a transformative COVID-19 response and recovery. This is done by incorporating COVID-19 sensitive and COVID-19 specific interventions to – (i) safeguard the most vulnerable in rural and urban settings; (ii) promote transformative economic recovery; and (iii) build capacities and institutions for resilience through knowledge management of the lessons learned on COVID-19 stimulus measures and recovery plans for policy advocacy purposes; targeting social, economic, environmental and governance dimensions in Mali, Myanmar and Guatemala.
