The COVID-19 crisis has shown us that global crises do not affect everyone the same. Current global crises are disproportionately impacting the lives and livelihoods of mothers and children. Given the upcoming pledging moments and opportunities for the global community – specifically the Nutrition 4 Growth Summit and the UN Food Systems Summit – we need to ensure that sufficient attention is paid to mothers and children, especially in the first 1000-days between a woman's pregnancy and the child's 2nd birthday.

This multi-sector virtual roundtable, co-hosted by FAO North America and the Alliance to End Hunger, is a critical opportunity for the global food security and nutrition community to highlight why investing in maternal and child nutrition is critical to reaching SDG2 and to discuss why now is the time for the world to make a bold commitment towards ending malnutrition.
