The United Nations General Assembly declared 2022 as the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA). The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is the lead agency for celebrating the year in collaboration with other relevant organizations and stakeholders. IYAFA 2022 has provided a unique opportunity to highlight the potential and diversity of small-scale artisanal fisheries and aquaculture, and underline the unique benefits of engaging in partnerships and cooperation with fishers, fishfarmers and fishworkers.
