El Programa mundial para una ganadería sostenible es una asociación de partes interesadas comprometidas con el desarrollo sostenible del sector ganadero. Responde a la necesidad de emprender medidas concertadas y colectivas para abordar los desafíos sin precedentes del sector.
Con una población mundial que se prevé que alcance los 9 600 millones de personas en 2050, se espera que la demanda de productos pecuarios aumente un 20%. El sector debe responder a la creciente demanda mundial de carne, huevos y leche, que se ve impulsada por el aumento de la población mundial, pero también por el incremento de la riqueza y la urbanización.
