05/12/2024 Seoul, Republic of Korea – Rice is a critical staple food, providing essential calories and nutrients for over half the world’s population, especially in low-income countries. The FAO-Republic of Korea (ROK) project, aims to strengthen rice research and training institutions in Tanzania, Cote d’Ivoire, and the Philippines, developing competitive and inclusive rice value chains through SSTC.

03/12/2024 The project "South-South Cooperation: Digital Transformation and Innovation in Agriculture" has completed its implementation in Latin America and the Caribbean, with results that have directly benefited 800 people from rural areas, especially in communities with limited access and connectivity. Furthermore, it has had an indirect impact on over 4,000 people. Led by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the People's Republic of China, and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the project promoted digital initiatives in 12 countries across the region to support the recovery of rural livelihoods impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Belize, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, and Uruguay collectively represent approximately 81 million students who stand to benefit.
