Integrating Agriculture in National Adaptation Plans (NAP–Ag)

Knowledge Tank for agriculture sectors’ adaptation to climate change This NAP-Ag Knowledge Tank: Contains tools, methods, case studies and other knowledge materials on climate change adaptation in the agriculture sectors (crops, livestock, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture). Targets national planners, development actors and decision makers. Supports countries in highlighting key resources for adaptation planning and budgeting, especially in formulating and implementing National Adaptation Plans (NAP).

Gender, Rural Livelihoods and Forestry. Assessment of Gender Issues in Kosovo's Forestry

The main purposes of this research are to identify and analyse the role of women and men in the forestry sector in Kosovo, and women’s and men’s ownership and use of forests. The report also aims to analyse the gender issues within the institutional policy and legal framework that governs forest management, in order to provide recommendations on how to mainstream gender in forest policies in Kosovo more effectively.

Tembani – A Zimbabwean forestry officer tackling invasive pests

This video tells the story of Tembani, an inspiring young Zimbabwean forestry officer who is battling against alien invasive pests that are threatening Eucalyptus trees and woodlots around the country. His work is being supported by FAO and the Africa Solidarity Trust Fund (ASTF) through training in integrated pest management, national surveillance programmes, and the introduction of biological controls to control the spread of the pests.

Voluntary Guidelines on National Forest Monitoring

The voluntary guidelines on national forest monitoring aim to present a general framework for the compilation of good practice principles, methodologies and tools for planning and implementing a multi-purpose national forest inventory and to establish long-term forest monitoring systems grounded in sound practice. The guidelines are designed as a technical reference or framework that takesi nto consideration the needs and capacities of member countries. They present the rationale for action, identify roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders and describe the engagement needed to implement a national forest monitoring process. Addressing Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in National Adaptation Plans

These supplementary guidelines to the UNFCCC NAP Guidelines for "Addressing Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in National Adaptation Plans (NAP-Ag Guidelines)" aim to support developing countries in making sure agriculture is both included in national adaptation plans and made more adaptive and resilient to climate change.  The Guidelines aim to support developing countries in: reducing vulnerability of the agriculture sectors to the impacts of climate change by building adaptive capacities and resilience; addressing agriculture in the formulation and implementation of NAPs; and enhancing the integration of adaptation in agricultural development policies, programmes and plans.
