Report of the fourth meeting of the Agreement on Port State Measures Technical Working Group on Information Exchange
The fourth meeting of the Agreement on Port State Measures (PSMA) Technical Working Group on Information Exchange (TWG-IE) was held in Panama City, Panama, from 18 to 22 March 2024.
The TWG-IE commended the Secretariat following the launch of the first operational version of the PSMA Global Information Exchange System (GIES) by FAO on 18 December 2023. It reiterated the importance that all Parties submit information on National Contact Points (NCPs) and Designated ports (DPs) and keep this information updated. Non-Parties were also encouraged to designate NCPs to receive notifications from the GIES.
The TWG-IE recognized the advances made in GIES connectivity with some regional and national electronic information exchange systems and encouraged the Secretariat to continue exploring ways, as feasible and relevant, to connect. The TWG-IE directed the Secretariat to proceed with the development of the Advance Request for Port Entry (ARPE) module in the GIES.
