The International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP 2026) aims to build global awareness of these often-overlooked landscapes and the people who manage them. It is a call to action-promoting responsible investment and locally adapted policies that secure pastoralists’ access to land and natural resources, support mobility, and strengthen inclusive and customary governance. It also encourages greater investment in community-based rangeland management, pastoralist-driven ecosystem restoration, fair and equitable value chains, and improved data to fill the existing gaps.
