FAO calls for proposals: Provision of a study on “Analytical framework on Policy Coherence to halt deforestation: Aligning public expenditure and cross-sectoral strategies to meet climate change commitments in the AFOLU Sector”

28/02/2024

The UN-REDD Programme – FAO Halting Deforestation, Degradation, and Emissions Team invites proposals for the provision of a study on “Analytical framework on Policy Coherence to halt deforestation: Aligning public expenditure and cross-sectoral strategies to meet climate change commitments in the AFOLU Sector.”

FAO, through joint efforts of the UN-REDD Programme, and the FAO Agrifood Economics and Policy Division’s Monitoring and Analyzing Food and Agricultural Policies team, are developing an analytical framework of public expenditures analysis on forest conservation, restoration, and sustainable use, encompassing budgets allocated to forestry, agriculture, and other land use sectors.

The forthcoming study will extend the scope of forestry public expenditure analysis to develop a new analytical framework on policy coherence to halt deforestation, aimed at aligning public expenditure and cross-sectoral strategies to ensure that policies are consistent with cross-sectoral commitments. A thorough policy coherence analysis between commitments and expenditures is expected to further enhance alignment between policy objectives and domestic public expenditure, ensure fiscal policy consistency, and incentivize priority commitments.

FAO seeks a partner organization to undertake the development of this analytical framework. Interested non-profit, intergovernmental, and governmental entities are encouraged to submit their proposals.

Full details of the call for proposal are available here

Deadline for submission is 20 March 2024 – 23:59 (CET).

The updated financial offer is now below 80,000 USD.
