The FAO Research and Extension Unit, Office of Innovation is organizing a webinar entitled “Strategies and innovative approaches to tackle availability and affordability of safe fruits and vegetables in the context of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries,” in collaboration with the Universidade de Lisboa, ISA, e a Universidade Aberta, Portugal.
The CPLP Strategy for Food and Nutrition Security (ESAN-CPLP) is a pioneer project and the first such experience to be recognized and supported by FAO. CPLP was the first Community of Countries with distinct realities and from different continents to clearly emphasize, in its multilateral cooperation, and within each national context, a set of priorities to fight hunger and malnutrition.
This webinar aims at discussing strategies and innovative approaches to tackling the availability and affordability of safe fruits and vegetables, including biological resources, production and consumption, under the specific diversity, common challenges and cooperation context of the CPLP.
The webinar will showcase the experiences of relevant actors from these interdisciplinary fields. The discussion will seek reflection on the immediate impacts of such innovative interventions, but mostly beyond the IYFV and bridging with the “UN Decade of Action on Nutrition” (2016-2025) and the “UN Decade of Family Farming” (2019-2028).
