Countries must do more to fight child labour in agriculture. The Government of Cambodia has taken some concrete steps and changed its fisheries policies to address the root causes of child labour.

In the Kakuma refugee camp children are at risk of diseases, gender-based violence and malnutrition. In response, FAO and partners have set up Junior Farmer Field and Life Schools (JFFLS) where children learn about farming, nutrition, gender equality and business skills.

Children in Karamoja, northern Uganda, are learning about farming, healthy eating and how to protect themselves from diseases, thanks to the Junior Farmer Field and Life Schools (JFFLS) set up by FAO and partners across 6 countries in the region.

The Green Jobs for Rural Youth Employment (GJ4RYE) project promotes green jobs through skills training in land reclamation, organic horticulture, and beekeeping. Thanks to this project, youth participants, from diverse backgrounds are employed under a Wage Employment Initiative to rehabilitate mined-out lands for agricultural use.
