Project's full title Linkages between Social Protection, Agriculture, and Food Security in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic in Mozambique
Introduction The Productive Social Action Program (PASP) in Mozambique, part of the National Basic Social Security Strategy, supports vulnerable households through public works (TPI) and income-generating initiatives (ADAGR). The SERA team is evaluating ADAGR’s effectiveness in enabling participants to shift to sustainable livelihoods and reduce dependency on public works.
Country Mozambique
Start date 15/04/2023
Status ongoing
Recipient / Target Areas Mozambique
Project Code TCP/MOZ/3802
Objective / Goal The impact evaluation examines whether the ADAGR component, composed of cash transfers, agricultural input package, and farmer field schools, led to increased, diversified, and stabilized incomes, improved food access through production and market purchases, enhanced resilience, and led to greater socioeconomic inclusion for participating households, ultimately allowing households to graduate from the PASP. Results from the study will provide insights into the design of the graduation component of PASP and ENSSB.
Partners Centro de Excelência em Agricultura Exponencial (CEAGRE), Instituto Nacional de Ação Social (INAS)
Beneficiaries The project targets 700 PASP participants among households that were enrolled in PASP in the districts of Gurue in Zambezia province (Central Mozambique) and Ribaue in Nampula province (Northern Mozambique).
Activities The project provides a multi-faceted package, including cash transfers, agricultural inputs, and technical training through farmer field schools, to help households adopt improved agricultural practices and business strategies.
