The Country Programming Framework (CPF) sets out three government priority areas to guide the FAO partnership with and support to the Government of Sri Lanka – bringing together innovative international practices and global standards with national and regional expertise over five years from 2018 to 2022.

The overarching goal of FAO’s programme in Sri Lanka continues to be the reduction of food insecurity, malnutrition and vulnerabilities, and the sustainable management and use of the country’s natural resources.

08 May, Male' - Inception meeting of the FAO Technical Cooperation Programme to support the development of a web/online application to strengthen national capacity in agriculture extension services to increase production and income of farmers in the outer atolls of Maldives.

24 May, Colombo - Launch of the global project on the responsible use of fisheries and aquaculture resources for sustainable development. Implemented in Sri Lanka by the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA) with support from FAO and funding from Norway.
