The Country Programming Framework (CPF) sets out three government priority areas to guide the FAO partnership with and support to the Government of Sri Lanka – bringing together innovative international practices and global standards with national and regional expertise over five years from 2018 to 2022.
Priority Area 1: increased contribution of food systems to food and nutrition security and income generation;
Priority Area 2: more sustainably managed natural resources taking account of climate change and increased resiliency of the most vulnerable to shocks, natural disasters and climate variability;
Priority Area 3: increased capacity of stakeholders to undertake policy formulation and to collect, analyse and utilize data and information for evidence based decision making.
The overarching goal of FAO’s programme in Sri Lanka continues to be the reduction of food insecurity, malnutrition and vulnerabilities, and the sustainable management and use of the country’s natural resources.
