The food systems perspective is central to understanding and acting on global risks, such as pandemics and climate change. Furthermore, global emergencies have a major impact on food security and nutrition by affecting the availability, accessibility and affordability of food, especially in cities, due to their high population density.

Agro-food vulnerabilities are interrelated with environmental and socio-economic vulnerabilities, which requires the urgent development of comprehensive and coordinated strategies.

Some of the key solutions can come from agro-ecology, which has a central role in achieving SGDs; in strengthening food and nutritional security, from the local to the global; and in restoring a balanced relationship between nature and the economy

This report presents a set of actions for the promotion and development of local agro-food systems in the face of global risks.
