Alessia Filippi

Alessia Filippi was born on the 23 June 1987 in Rome and from a very young age she has had a passion for swimming. This passion developed into many years of training and dedication to her sport, but her hard work has earned her many medals and she has broken many records. In 2008 she set the new world record in the 800m freestyle (short course), with the time of 8:04.53. In 2009 she won the gold medal in the 1500m at the 2009 Swimming World Championships in Rome.

Alessia is a keen advocate of campaigns related to children and youth. She is a keen supporter of YUNGA in promoting activities to empower youth, fight social injustice and combat hunger and malnutrition.

Alessia is a great example that with commitment and hard work you can achieve anything.
