FAO and Development Non-Governmental Organizations get together
FAO recognises the important role played by the NGOs in promoting responsible livestock practices as part of their programme. The recent Independent External Review of FAO recommended a closer and more effective cooperation between FAO and civil society. In this favourable environment, there are new opportunities with mutual benefits for greater cooperation between FAO and the NGOs. As a first step, the FAO Animal Production and Health Division (AGA) would like to invite major national and international NGOs with an interest in livestock development to a “Getting to know each other” consultation in Rome, 1-2 December, 2009. The intention is for both parties to inform each other of their work, identify and foster synergies, and explore possible collaborative activities.
