Contents: 1) New National Feed Assessment System proposed for the Niger to help combat effects of floods and drought. 2) More than 50 specialists from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean come together to build a sustainable livestock development agenda. 3) The feed analysis laboratory: Establishment and quality control - Setting up a feed analysis laboratory, and implementing a quality assurance system compliant with ISO/IEC 17025:2005. 4) Public-private partnerships for animal health: Good for local economies, great for food safety. 5) Addressing avian influenza A(H7N9) - Surveillance guidelines for uninfected countries in Southeast Asia and South Asia. 6) Global H7N9 preparedness work well underway in Asia, soon to begin in Africa. 7) European Commission grant brings FAO and partners together to improve surveillance and control of emerging, vector-borne diseases in North and West Africa.
