The food system of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam / Hệ thống thực phẩm ở Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, Việt Nam

The Ho Chi Minh City food system faces many challenges: the high use of chemicals for agriculture, the lack of means and knowledge for smallholder farmers to develop and transition towards more sustainable production systems, the vulnerability to climate change and the legacy of the war that contaminated most of the soils. At the same time, Vietnam is a diverse country in terms of geography and climate, and therefore agriculture and food, making the Vietnamese diet part of their culture, almost untouchable when it comes to globalization of tastes and consumption habits.

This film was directed by Anna Faucher and Louison Lançon, from the Let's Food Association, as part of the Let's Food Cities project. This assessment of the Ho Chi Minh City food system was conducted between February and April 2019. More than 20 stakeholders were interviewed.
