The Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Community Development (JAFSCD) announces a call for papers and essays for a Special Issue, “COVID-19 and the Food System”. The deadline for submissions is September 30, 2020. JAFSCD is calling for four types of submissions:

For publication in the 2020-2021 Winter Issue:

• Research Papers (4,500 to 7,500 words) on a wide range of topics, including Agroecological responses.

Three options for immediate publication:

• Policy and Practice Briefs (about 1000 words with images and graphics)
• Voices from the Grassroots Essays (up to 1,000 words with images)
• Commentaries (up to 1,000 words).

Applied research papers (case studies, surveys, etc.) should examine the impacts on the food system due to the COVID-19 pandemic or considering future crises, revealing weaknesses and opportunities for the system and informing strategic food system planning and public policy in the future.
