Food Policy Forum for Change: Transforming food and agricultural systems through a specialized forum for policy makers

The focus of the forum will be on discussing and supporting integrative policies that emphasize long-term productivity, greater resource-use efficiency, enhanced ecological functions, improved resilience, restoration of soils, promotion of biodiversity, improvement of rural livelihoods, and increasing equity and social well-being.

Participate in this policy forum through peer-to-peer exchanges, consisting of face-to-face, on-line and informal meetings. Shape the themes of these exchanges, which will include topics like increasing the resilience of food systems in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.

Join a community of policy makers engaged or interested in transforming food systems through novel integrative approaches. This policy forum will provide access to community driven coaching, regional and international champions, experts, case studies, tools and evidence.

Both the policy forum and peer-to-peer exchanges are open to policy makers worldwide. Nevertheless, we are particularly interested in engaging with policy makers in Sub-Sahara Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

These activities are part of the initiative “Coherent policies for transforming food and agricultural systems – a peer to peer exchange among policy makers” led by a consortium of prominent organizations in the fields of sustainable food systems and agricultural policy processes: Biovision Foundation, IFOAM – Organics International and the Millennium Institute, with technical support from FAO (Scaling up Agroecology Initiative). The initiative is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)
