Objectives

The regional workshop will:

• Review critically with users the experience on irrigation modernization (in particular using MASSCOTE applications) in the region: discuss what works, does not work, limitations, expectations from decision-makers, financiers and system managers and propose improvements for the next generation of methodologies (TORs for MASSCOTE 2.0 and for those beyond it);
• Follow up (starting in 2013) on how to move forward towards a more demand-driven partnership approach to continuous development of tools and guidelines and related capacity building requirements;
• Share country experiences on transforming the irrigation sector and discuss guidelines for policy, strategy and investments; and,
• Provide guidance to FAO for its future technical programmes in the region.
