Integrated Food Security Phase Classification
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) is a standardised tool that aims at providing a ''common currency'' for classifying food security.

The Right to Food
The Right to Food team supports the implementation of the human right to adequate food, using FAO’s Right to Food Guidelines. It develops methods and instruments to assist stakeholders in the implementation of the right to food and information and training materials to raise awareness and understanding by rights holders, duty bearers, civil society and the general public.

Seeds, Diversity and Development
This programme consists of applied economics research on how seed systems affect the decisions farmers make about which crops and varieties to plant – in other words the on-farm utilization of crop genetic resources.

EC-FAO Food Security Information for Decision Making
The overall aim of this programme is to improve the quantity and quality of food security information and analysis and promote its use in decision making.

National Food Policy Capacity Strengthening Programme
The National Food Policy Capacity Strengthening Programme was initiated to enhance national capacity to implement the National Food Policy and Plan of Action. This project supports food security related initiatives of the Government of Bangladesh and build stronger links between the Government and civil society.

The Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition
The FSN Forum is an online community whose members can share their knowledge and experience. Through interaction, the network finds solutions to issues related to Food Security and Nutrition policies and strategies. It hosts discussions, welcomes queries, invites requests for peer assistance and is driven by the needs of participants.

The Sudan Institutional Capacity Programme: Food Security Information for Action
SIFSIA works with national institutions in Sudan to strengthen their capacity for generating, analysing and disseminating food security information.

Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit - Somalia
The Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit - Somalia (FSNAU) seeks to provide evidence-based analysis of Somali food, nutrition and livelihood security to enable both short-term emergency responses and long-term strategic planning to promote food and livelihood security for Somali people.

Committee on World Food Security
The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) is the United Nations' forum for reviewing and following up on policies concerning world food security. It also examines issues which affect the world food situation. It was established as a result of the food crisis of the 1970s, upon recommendation from the 1974 World Food Conference.

Monitoring African Food and Agricultural Policies
The Monitoring African Food and Agricultural Policies (MAFAP) project intends to help African policy-makers and other stakeholders ensure that policies and investments are fully supportive of agricultural development, the sustainable use of natural resources and enhanced food security.

The Rural Income Generating Activities (RIGA)
This project promotes a better understanding of the role of economic activities by rural households for poverty reduction and development. RIGA provides an innovative database on sources of income and research papers investigating key policy research issues based on the RIGA data.

National Food Policy Capacity Strengthening Programme (NFPCSP)
This project is designed to support food security related initiatives of the Government of Bangladesh, strengthen the capacity of the Government to plan, monitor and implement the broadened policies, facilitate inter-ministerial collaboration and build stronger links between the Government and civil society.

Long-term perspectives
Global perspective studies are based on a multi-disciplinary approach and draw on contributions from all technical divisions in FAO. Long-term papers and reports are presented on diverse topics, including investment, soaring food prices, biofuels and climate change.

Payments for Environmental Services from Agricultural Landscapes (PESAL)
This website aims to disseminate information on the potential of agriculture to improve the provision of environmental services though Payments for Environmental Services (PES) programmes, as incentives for improved land management.
