Dzud early warning system in Mongolia
This practice explains what a dzud is, the condition, and the impact of dzud events on local herding communities in Mongolia. It further highlights the importance of Early Warning Early Action (EWEA) systems to anticipate and mitigate dzuds' impacts and support herders to protect their livelihoods from the event.
EWEA – also known as Anticipatory Action (AA) or Forecast-based Financing (FbF) – is an approach which links early warnings to actions that can protect families and their livelihoods ahead of a hazard, whether it is human or climate induced.
