Fair of traditional dry cured meet – Prosciutto “Prsutijada 2017”

his year for the 17th time the Fair of dry-cured meet prosciutto or popular as “Prsutijada 2017″ was organized from February 10th till 12th in the village Mackat, Serbia. More than 10.000 domestic and international visitors visited this event. The aim of this event was to promote traditional processing of meat products from the Zlatibor Mountain and Uzice, as well as to facilitate the process of generating income from this type of economic activity.

Sixteen local producers of dry cured meet participated in the competition part. This year, for the first time, the Fair had a regional character by including family companies from Niksic, Montenegro (SWG cross-border region of “Krsh”) and Tinjan, Croatia. The family company Inmes mark “Bijelic” doo from Niksic was awarded with recognition for best quality for Njeguski prsut. The producers from Croatia presented the autochthon Istrian prosciutto, Malvazia wine and olive oil made from the autochthon variety of Istrian bijelica. The regional character of the event contributes to better promotion of the event, regional cooperation, networking of producers and development of the regional rural economy.
