ADRA works with people in poverty and distress to create just and positive change through empowering partnerships and responsible actions. The Adventist Development and Relief Agency is an independent humanitarian agency established in 1956 by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. ADRA seeks to indentify and address social injustice and deprivation in developing countries. The agency’s work seeks to improve the quality of life of those in need. ADRA has over 120 country offices, one of which is in Mongolia. ADRA opened its door to Mongolia in 1994 and partners with individuals, communities, organization and governments to improve the quality of the life for Mongolians through five programs activities: Food Security, Economic Development, Health, Disaster Management and Education. ADRA addresses this challenge by teaching them how to grow vegetables using appropriate methods for cold weather conditions. It also assists them to build green houses and root cellars and to get the necessary equipment for the gardening. The cooperatives also learn how to prepare healthy and nutritious dishes. These are ways ADRA helps farmers to maximize production, as well as to protect the environment and to improve health, contributing therefore to overall community development.
