Capacity development

A key mission of FAO's work on food and agriculture statistics is enhancing member countries’ statistical systems capacity, thus enabling them to produce and disseminate reliable and timely data. Capacity development in statistics is provided through different types of assistance to countries and in various thematic areas.

To implement its capacity development activities, FAO staff works in partnership with relevant stakeholders, such as National Statistical Offices, related Ministries, policy makers, civil society organizations.  

In addition to country specific capacity development activities, FAO provides support to worldwide FAOSTAT data users in accessing data and underlying methodologies.
