EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

An ad hoc session on otolith reading was held online on 28 October 2022 as part of the benchmark assessment for sardine (Sardina pilchardus) in the Adriatic Sea. The meeting was attended by 20 experts from five Adriatic Sea countries (Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy and Slovenia), the European Union Joint Research Center and the GFCM Secretariat. The key objective of the meeting was to present and discuss the results of otolith reading exchange made through the SMARTdots platform. The group formulated conclusions and agreed on further steps, including holding an additional online meeting prior to the benchmark meeting in 2023.
