EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Working Group on Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (WGIUU), including a session on the clarification process, was held in person on 3–4 May 2023 in Rhodes, Greece. The meeting was attended by 78 participants, who reviewed information presented by the GFCM Secretariat in the context of the identification and clarification process, including on the status of the implementation of GFCM decisions and on the transmission of data. Discussions covered a range of topics for the fight against IUU fishing including ongoing pilot catch documentation schemes, transshipment and fishing capacity. The WGIUU also analyzed information provided by contracting parties and cooperating non-contracting parties through a questionnaire on flag State performance.
