EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

A data preparation meeting for Black Sea priority species was held on 12–16 June 2023. The meeting included hybrid, face-to-face (in Burgas, Bulgaria) and online (over the Zoom platform) sessions. Issues related to fishery-dependent and fishery-independent data for the relevant species – sprat (Sprattus sprattus), horse mackerel (Trachurus mediterraneus ponticus), turbot (Scophthalmus maximus), whiting (Merlangius merlangus), red mullet (Mullus barbatus), piked dogfish (Squalus acanthias), rapa whelk (Rapana venosa) and anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus) – were reviewed and discussed in view of the needs of the 2023 meeting of the Subregional Group on Stock Assessment for the Black Sea (SGSABS), scheduled for 17–21 July 2023.
