The Government of the Republic of Guinea gets involved in the identification of GIAHS sites

15 December 2017

It is with a great honour that the GIAHS Secretariat received the expression of interest from the Ministry of Agriculture, Republic of Guinea, to launch the national process for identification and selection of potential GIAHS sites.

This decision comes after the participation in the GIAHS workshops in Morocco, Tanzania and China –in which representatives from the Guinean government and research centers had the opportunity to learn about GIAHS.

One of the main objectives of GIAHS is also to expand the programme to the African region where plenty of potential GIAHS sites have been preserved so far and are now facing new issues, in particular those related to Climate Change.
