A webinar session in Spanish will take place on the 6th of August 2019 to walk users through the new features of the FAO/WHO GIFT platform. In the webinars, participants will be able to: Share suggestions on new indicators which could be developed; Learn about the plans for the further developments of the Platform; Learn how to upload datasets and their metadata into the Platform. An upcoming webinar in French will be advertised soon.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) held two webinars on the use of the FoodEx2 classification system in September and October 2018. FoodEx2 is a comprehensive food classification and description system aimed at covering the need to describe foods in a harmonized way. The system was first developed by EFSA to serve European countries, and has later been upgraded for a global use in collaboration with FAO and WHO. FAO/WHO GIFT uses FoodEx2 to harmonize the different food consumption datasets available in the platform, and to generate the ready-to-use indicators. The FAO/WHO GIFT platform was presented to a wider audience in the UN Network for SUN webinar series in March 2018. This series of webinar presented the concepts underlying the development of FAO/WHO GIFT and guided participants through the use of the platform. Participants were introduced to the platform in three different languages: English, Spanish and French.
