The Data section of the FAO/WHO GIFT has been recently enriched with new indicators and summary statistics.

In addition to the Food Consumption, Food Safety and Nutrition infographics, users can now interact with new infographics on: Dietary Diversity, Environment, and Advanced Analysis.

The Dietary Diversity infographics examine dietary diversity (a key component of diet quality) at the population level, measured using the Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women (MDD-W) indicator. MDD-W is a food group-based indicator that estimates the proportion of non-pregnant women aged 15-49 years who consumed at least five out of ten defined food groups over the previous 24 hours, signaling better micronutrient intake.

The Environment infographics estimate the environmental impact of food consumption for the specific dataset and population group(s) selected. It presents estimates for greenhouse gas emissions, water use and land use from observed diets. These estimates can provide evidence to support policies and programmes for sustainable healthy diets.

The Advanced Analysis presents the estimated distribution of usual intakes of selected nutrients, providing important inputs for the assessment of nutrient adequacy. These results are calculated using statistical models, developed to adjust dietary data for day-to-day variation.
