Europe gets on board the Global Record

Data from the European fishing fleet is now on board the Global Record of Fishing Vessels, Refrigerated Transport Vessels and Supply Vessels.
European Union member States together with other European countries have, in recent days, submitted data in respect of their fishing fleet and other related information.
The European Commission has been a funding partner and supporter of the Global Record for several years. The EU amended the EU Regulation to make the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Number compulsory for certain categories of vessels thus being able to incorporate the IMO numbers in its fleet data.
To date, IMO Numbers have been allocated to more than 23 000 fishing vessels worldwide.
