The Proceedings of the Global Symposium on Soils for Nutrition, held from 26 to 29 July 2022, have been released, showcasing innovative research and valuable insights into the global issue of nutrient imbalance. This symposium, which attracted experts from various sectors, shed light on the multifactorial drivers and far-reaching effects of this critical challenge on agricultural systems and planetary processes.

The Global Soil Partnership (GSP) Plenary Assembly is the most important gathering of the partnership where crucial decisions concerning the global soil agenda are taken. It is the main platform for FAO Members and GSP partners to meet and exchange knowledge and expertise in the field of sustainable soil management.
Healthy soils are a vital resource that sustains food production and the livelihoods of millions of women and men farmers. Worldwide, the use of unsustainable practices is worsening soil degradation, which is already impacting 33 percent of soils, exacerbating food insecurity and gender inequalities. Wide evidence shows that women and men are affected differently by soil degradation due to their unequal access to resources and services, as well as gender based constraints, labor constraints, time poverty and work burden affecting particularly women who face more challenges than men to participate in decision-making processes and to access land, education, technologies, advisory and financial services, which also reduce their ability to invest in soil health and productivity.
Столица Узбекистана стала местом встречи экспертов и ученых-почвоведов со всего мира – в Ташкенте состоялось сразу три крупных международных мероприятия по вопросам засолённых почв: Второе совещание Международной сети по проблемам засолённых почв (INSAS), 6-е пленарное совещание Субрегионального Евразийского почвенного партнерства и тренинг Глобальной сети почвенных лабораторий (ГЛОСОЛАН) по анализу засолённых почв. Крупный международный форум собрал 150 участников, включая специалистов из таких стран, как Австралия, Армения, Бангладеш, Грузия, Исламская республика Иран, Испания, Италия, Казахстан, Китай, Королевство Нидерландов, Кыргызстан, Малайзия, Объединенная республика Танзания, Объединённые Арабские Эмираты, Пакистан, Сенегал, Туркменистан, Узбекистан, Франция.
