Strenghtening Afghanistan Institutions' capacity for the Assessment of Agriculture Production and Scenario Development

Partners

The Government Cooperative Programme (GCP) project is implemented within a partnership framework between the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock (MAIL), the Central Statistical Office (CSO) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

This 3 year EU-supported project extends the existing technical cooperationand regional support programmes between FAO, MAIL and CSO. The collaboration seeks to strengthen the coordination and support to effective agricultural planning and monitoring to support food security and to assess and respond to the impacts of climate change on the agricultural systems and livelihoods.


Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock (MAIL)

MAIL plays a significant role in the leadership of agricultural policy addressing water, irrigation and natural resources, production, market development and food security. The framework for the enhancement of agriculture is set out within the strategic priorities of the National Comprehensive Agriculture Development Priority Programme 2016-2020.

Central Statistic Organization (CSO) is an independent Governmental administration for creating and analysing and ensuring harmonization and coordination of all statistical activities in the Nation. CSO is mandated to create an appropriate system of statistics and facilitate coordination among agencies in all statistical activities
