Adapting irrigation to climate change (AICCA)

SHARP

The Self-evaluation and Holistic Assessment of climate Resilience of farmers and Pastoralists (SHARP) tool developed by FAO is designed as an instrument to assess the resilience of farmer and pastoralist households to climate change. It addresses the need to better understand and incorporate the situations, concerns and interests of family farmers and pastoralists relating to climate resilience.

Following a survey-based evaluation of households’ climate resilience, gaps and weaknesses in the response of farmers and institutions to climate variability are analyzed. The information gathered is then integrated with broader-level climatic data, with the aim of assisting farmers in prioritizing actions to build the resilience of their agro-ecosystems, as well as orienting institutions towards the best possible policy approaches in order to strengthen climate resilience.
