Food for the cities programme

The German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture is a primary partner of FAO’s Food for the Cities/City Region Food System Programme. It provides financial support for projects in city regions in Sri Lanka and Zambia.

 

 

 

 

RUAF Foundation

The RUAF Foundation is the main partner of FAO’s Food for the Cities/City Region Food System Programme in developing a common vision on the City Region Food Systems approach. The RUAF Foundation is a global network with centres in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe. It is a leading centre of expertise in the field of (intra- and peri-) urban agriculture and city region food strategies. They have implemented projects in city regions in Canada, the Netherlands and Ecuador.

CIRAD(French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development)  is the French agricultural research and cooperation organization working for the sustainable development of tropical and Mediterranean regions.

CIRAD works with its partners to build knowledge and solutions and invent resilient farming systems for a more sustainable, inclusive world. It mobilizes science, innovation and training in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Its expertise supports the entire range of stakeholders, from producers to public policymakers, to foster biodiversity protection, agroecological transitions, food system sustainability, health (of plants, animals and ecosystems), sustainable development of rural territories, and their resilience to climate change.
