Webinar: A review of local finance for forest and landscape restoration

28/11/2018

The Incentives for Ecosystem Services (IES) approach was included within an international webinar, "Local finance for forest and landscape restoration (FLR)" on 28 Novemnber 2018. The webinar focused on a review of financing mechanisms to support  implementation of FLR at local level. Discussion included, different types of investment to support assests and enabling environments, how stakeholders can better understand and tap into a spectrum of existing finance mechanisms. It also addressed how stakeholders can take advantage of these existing opportuntiies to benefirt from improved coordination of public, private and civic investments across different sectors, and the financial and non-financial incentives they provide. Strategies and lessons learned from these packages of investment were also shared to illustrate how accessing local, blended finance can be used to scale up FLR.

The webinar was co-orginaized by FAO's Forest and Landscape Restoration Mechanism (FLRM) with the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) Landscape Finance Lab. The lab acts as an incubator, which helps to speed up and support the growth and success of sustainable landscape regeneration and restoration projects.

A two-week online discussion forum following the webinar will be hosted by the Landscape Finance Lab here.
