Greenhouse Gas Inventories

FAO e-learning course: Building a national greenhouse gas inventory for agriculture and land use

This self-paced e-learning course has been developed as part of the MICCA programme. The course is based on “Estimating Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Agriculture: A manual to address data requirements for Developing Countries” prepared in collaboration with the Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics.

The course guides the user through the preparation of a tier 1/approach  national greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory for the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector, providing also a general introduction to GHG reporting in the context of climate change policy.

The e-learning course contributes to the improvement of national GHG inventories which are instrumental for national GHG reporting processes such as the Biennial Update Reports (BURs), the National Communications and Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs).
