FAO Makes Stronger Links with Academia in Iran
Dr. Mona, FAO Representative in the Islamic Republic of Iran on behalf of FAO Assistant Director General for the Regional Office for the Near East (RNE) and Professor Jafari, Head of University of Tehran, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UTCAN) countersigned the MoU between FAO and UTCAN on 07 October 2013. The ceremony was held in the campus of UTCAN in which several scientific members of the University attended. Media coverage was very substantive.
In his speech notes, Dr. Mona emphasized on the importance of partnership building with academia for FAO. He also summarized main objectives of the MoU as to foster exchange of technical and scientific information as well as cooperation on topics related to agricultural development and natural resources management to better achieve food security in the country.
Professor Jafari appreciated FAO’s efforts and support in finalization of the MoU while he expressed the keen interest of the University College in bringing the MoU into implementation.
