New Synergy Brief on the UNCCD-FAO Joint Initiative on Land Tenure >>>
This new brief entitled "Securing Tenure to Restore Land and Safeguard Livelihoods" provides an overview of more secure tenure pathways to enhance the adoption and upscaling of regenerative agriculture, sustainable land management and restoration. It highlights some of the activities of the UNCCD-FAO joint initiative to promote the recognition and enforcement of legitimate land rights that can increase the effectiveness of land restoration initiatives.
The brief offers a synthesis of the Technical Guide to Integrate the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries, and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT) within the implementation of the UNCCD and Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN). It also aims to raise awareness of the UNCCD-FAO joint initiative ahead of the World Bank Land Conference to be held in Washington, DC on 13-17 May 2024. The Conference is the premier forum for the land sector, bringing together participants from governments, development partners, civil society, academia, and the private sector to showcase research, discuss issues and good practice, and inform policy dialogue.
