New FAO Representative for Nepal presents his Credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs

Mr. Ken Shimizu, new FAO Country Representative to Nepal has presented his Letters of Credentials to the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Dr. Narayan Khadka.  

At the meeting, Dr. Khadka wished for the successful tenure of Shimizu and lauded the contribution of FAO Nepal in promoting agriculture and capacitating the farmers. He underscored that agriculture has a multiplier effect in the national economy, resulting in better jobs with increased income for farmers and requested FAO Nepal to support the Government in promoting competitive, climate-resilient agro products.

Expressing his warm gratitude to Nepal, Mr. Shimizu committed to strengthening collaborative efforts with the Government of Nepal and respective line ministries for the transformation to more inclusive, resilient and sustainable, agri-food systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, leaving no one behind.

The FAO Representation office, established in 1977, is ensuring to​ ​achieve food security, enhance nutrition, and empower rural men and women in Nepal through increased incomes and improved livelihoods.
