World Food Day Celebrations 2022 - FAO KPK

As part of the World Food Day 2022 celebrations, FAO-Pakistan’s Regional Office Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) arranged multiple activities. These activities were planned keeping in view the theme for this year; “Leave no one behind; better production, better nutrition, better and environment and better life.

The World Food Day activities 2022 aimed at educating individuals on ways they can simply incorporate in their daily habits and decisions to make a difference. Hence, FAO-Pakistan, KP Office marked World Food Day celebrations by organizing a one-day event with differently abled children at Special Education Complex School. Art and culture competitions and different games were held for them through which they were given awareness on the importance of food in our lives. Mr. Said Ali Baksh, Director, Special Education Complex School appreciated the diverse and inclusive efforts of FAO to raise awareness on food security.

In the similar vein, a one-day event was held at Agriculture University Public School & College. Along with quiz and painting competitions an awareness session was also held to sensitize young students on the importance of balanced and nutritious diet, healthy life style, and zero wastage and food security, particularly in context of recent floods in Pakistan. Information, Education and Communication material was also distributed among the students.

An awareness walk as also organized at Peshawar University of Agriculture. Mr. Abdul Bari, Director General Research, and his team also took part in the awareness walk. The activity aimed to raise awareness on the importance of World Food Day and to create a human chain of promoting sustainable and nutritious food.

World Food Day celebrations were also held for smallholder farmers and children in district Bajaur. Through awareness sessions importance of nutrition for women and children was highlighted.
