Integration of SDGs into Agriculture & Natural Resources Management (ANR) for Provincial Planning

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) arranged 2 day workshop titled “Integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into Agriculture & Natural Resources Management (ANR) for Provincial Planning”.
The workshop was instrumental in emphasizing on all stakeholders that the SDG targets can be achieved by developing a roadmap for the integration of ANR SDGs into government planning, which consists of a series of measures needed to ensure a holistic, legitimate, and results-oriented mainstreaming and integration process.
The opening session on December 12 was chaired by the Additional Secretary, Planning & Development FATA, Mr Muhammad Zubair.
In his remarks, Mr Zubair, Additional Secretary Planning & Development FATA, appreciated the efforts of FAO for arranging the workshop..
Welcoming partcipants, Mr.Sanaullah Khan Officer-in-Charge of FAO KP-FATA programme highlighted that there was a need to look into SDGs as a system and network, where goals and targets are interlinked. He also pointed out the need for better coordination, policy coherence and synergies to achieve the SDG agenda effectively.
Officials from FATA Secretariat, UN agencies, WFP, and Chairman Agriculture University Peshawar among others attended this workshop.
Sustainable Development Goal to “End hunger, achieve food security, promote sustainable agriculture” (SDG2) recognizes the inter linkages among supporting sustainable agriculture, eradicating poverty and hunger are crucial to boost food production, agricultural productivity and rural incomes.
