This publication contains information about the El Niño and La Niña phenomena and its impacts to the agriculture sector in the Philippines. It also provides details on FAO's support to the Government in disaster assessments, response planning and livelihood recovery in affected rural areas. 

The FAO in Mindanao fact sheet contains key information on the region’s agriculture sector and its contribution to the national economy. The document also presents a brief narrative on FAO's Mindanao Strategic Programme for Agriculture and Agribusiness, as well as recent projects in support of the Government’s efforts related to peace and development, food security, poverty alleviation and the restoration of livelihoods affected by natural disasters and armed conflict, among others. 

This two-page publication contains information on the impacts of natural and human-induced disasters to the agriculture sector in the Philippines. It also provides a narrative on FAO's approach to disaster risk reduction and management and climate change adaptation, and a list of related key projects.

The study presents interesting findings on the state of agribusiness venture arrangements (AVAs) between agribusiness firms and agrarian reform beneficiaries in the Philippines. It focuses on leasehold and contract growing arrangements in the Mindanao region, particularly those that involve banana, cacao, oil palm and pineapple production.

FAO's Global Early Warning System (GIEWS) Country Briefs provide up to date information on the food security situation of monitored countries.

The Country Briefs include information on current agricultural season and the harvest prospects for main staple food crops and livestock situation. In addition, the briefs provide estimates and forecasts of cereal production and imports together with food price and policy developments. Other topical information may be included when relevant.

The Briefs are updated no less than four times per year.
