Regional Strategy for Disaster Risk Management in the Agriculture Sector and Food and Nutrition Security in Latin America and the Caribbean (2018 - 2030)

A regional strategy developed by technical officers from Ministries of Agriculture of CELAC countries and its PPT in El Salvador with technical assistance from FAO and UNISDR to improve disaster risk management in agriculture in Latin America and the Caribbean through a a collaborative approach between countries. Uganda is one of the largest refugee hosting countries in Africa, with more than 1.1 million refugees. The Uganda Refugee Policy (2006) and the Refugee Regulations (2010) grant refugees wide-ranging rights hinged on a strategy of allocating refugees land, freedom of movement and the right to seek employment. Household vulnerability to food insecurity in the face of climate change in Paraguay. FAO Agricultural Development Economics Working Paper 19-04

This working paper analyses the effect climate change is expected to have on agricultural productivity, caloric consumption, and vulnerability to food insecurity of household agricultural producers in Paraguay. Our results suggest that increasing temperatures and reduced precipitation will reduce agricultural productivity and caloric consumption, and increase vulnerability to food insecurity. Specifically, a 1 percent increase in average maximum temperatures is associated with a 5 percent reduction in agricultural productivity. A 5 percent reduction in agricultural productivity translates into nearly a 1 percent reduction in caloric consumption. Supporting Mongolia’s national programme for food security under South-South cooperation

The food and agriculture sector of Mongolia lacked the technical capacity required to implement national agricultural and livestock policies and programmes. Supporting agricultural growth and socio-economic development in Southern Africa

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat has embarked on the formulation of an Investment Plan for the effective and coherent implementation of a Regional Agriculture Policy. This will ensure the food and nutrition security of people living in SADC member countries, the sustainable utilization of available natural resources, and the effective protection of the environment. Food Price Monitoring and Analysis Tool (FPMA)

The Food Price Monitoring and Analysis (FPMA) database includes over 1400 monthly domestic retail and/or wholesale price series of major foods consumed in 94 countries and weekly/monthly prices for 85 internationally traded foods. The Tool provides easy access to the data, allowing users to quickly browse and analyse trends of single price series, create comparisons among countries/markets/commodities, and download charts, data and basic statistics such as maximum and minimum levels, averages, percentage changes and standard deviations over different time periods. The Tool was developed in 2010 as part of FAO’s initiatives to address the soaring food prices.

High-Level Expert Seminar on Indigenous Food Systems. Building on traditional knowledge to achieve Zero Hunger

In December 2017, FAO and Bioversity International entered into an agreement to contribute to the overall food systems and climate change adaptation debate through analytical and field activities on indigenous food systems.
