The elected Chairperson for the Fifth Meeting of the Parties (MOP5) to the Agreement on Port State Measures (PSMA), Mr Andres Arens Hidalgo, met with the FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu.

Mr Arens Hidalgo is the Vice-Minister of Aquaculture and Fisheries of Ecuador. Ecuador will next host MOP5 in 2025.

The Meeting of the Parties is a biennial meeting that brings together Parties to the PSMA, non-parties and observers, to discuss matters relevant to the implementation of the Agreement. The Fourth Meeting of the Parties was held in Bali, Indonesia, in May 2023.
