Ecuador publishes analysis of 2009-2014 REDD+ results

09/08/2017

Ecuador reached a significant landmark with the publication of the Technical Report on the analysis of the REDD+ results for the period 2009-2014. This important result stems from a 5-year long technical process led by the Ministry of Environment (MAE). These results are an impressive demonstration of the importance of a consistent process driven by the country itself, with clear decision making roles, based on solid scientific and technical basis, and with the involvement and participation of different stakeholders.

With these efforts, Ecuador is one of the first countries that have completed the process and have its Technical Annex successfully analyzed by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), enabling the country to receive results-based payments for REDD+.
