Second Call of the “Global Solicitation and Challenge Prize on Best Poverty Reduction Practices” open

Published: 27/02/2020

The second edition of the “Global Solicitation and Challenge Prize on Best Poverty Reduction Practices” has been launched,  co-organized by World Bank (WB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), China Internet Information Center (CIIC), and the three RBAs (FAO, IFAD and WFP).

The campaign aims to share domestic and international best practices in poverty reduction using real-life cases as the mechanism, so as to promote South-South Cooperation in poverty reduction. The deadline for submissions is 31 March 2020. The campaign invites organizations and individuals from all over the world to submit poverty reduction cases. The top 100 case studies will be published in 2020, shared through the Global Poverty Reduction Online Knowledge Sharing Database. Individual authors and organizations with winning submissions will each receive a certificate issued by the hosting organizations.

The Second Call is launched based on successful experiences of the first event, seeking for more poverty reduction case studies worldwide. In May 2018, WB, ADB, IPRCC, CIIC, and RBAs jointly launched the First Call. In early 2019, it received a total of 820 case studies, of which, 645 submissions were from government agencies at all levels, enterprises and individuals in China; 175 cases were from international organizations and research institutes, covering over 30 countries. A total of 110 case studies were selected by a jury made up of representatives from the seven hosting organizations, and announced during the 2019 China Poverty Reduction International Forum in October.
